Jumpin' Jester!

August 31st, Tandem Parachute Jump, March, Cambridgeshire

It was the final Seattle in London 2000 fundraising event before the group from Seattle were due to arrive nine days later. Jeremy “The Jester” Morgan, the project’s fundraising coordinator has had such an eventual year that he wants to take it all off his chest by jumping 30,000 feet off a plane to get it over and done with...

With a parachute and a professional attached to him of course.

Jeremy decided to do a final stint in fundraising by doing a tandem parachute jump, much to the obvious horror of his beloved mother, for the project. He was joined by his wife, Anita, who seemed to be unusually cool about it. Also Nick Sturley and Richard King for moral support and they brought the video camera to film the event with a few tricks up Nick’s sleeve.

Anita’s parents, who did not live far from March, Cambridgeshire, also joined them at the privately owned airport for the parachute jumping purposes.

Jeremy was really nervous as he puffed away his fags more than enough times. Nick, in his usual mischievous form, brought out a Superman-like chest logo with a “J” on it and stuck it on Jeremy’s chest to make him feel a little more confident!

After a briefing and instruction on how to do it properly, the moment arrived. He was attached to a professional and they both went into the plane to join other single jumpers and the plane set off.

Unknown to Jeremy, Nick did a comedy sketch with Anita, filmed by Richard on Jeremy’s jump to his “death” by no parachute and “crash landed” on the ground, completely “dead” and “flattened” (see picture). This sketch was shown on one of the TVs during the Ultimate Usher Party much to the surprise of Jeremy! He found it hilarious.

Back to the jump, he did jump after all and safety landed on the ground with the professional. He embraced his wife soon afterwards and he said he wants to do it again...
