getting support

Back to categories

As explained in About UsherLife, we do not provide support, however, this FAQs information will help you on how to get support for yourself or for your Usher / deafblind children.

  • Are there major deafblind organisations in the UK?
    There are two:
Sense and Deafblind UK. In Scotland: Sense Scotland and Deafblind Scotland.

  • Does Sense have an Usher Team?
    Yes,
    email them for enquiries.

  • I would like information and publications on Usher syndrome and deafblindness. Where do I get them?
    Sense has the
Usher Publications and Sense Library webpages.

  • I have difficulties in getting around such as going to shops, travelling and visiting places, etc because of my Usher / deafblindness. Is there support that I can get to help me?
There is a law in the UK that says your local social services must provide personnel support for your needs. It is called Deafblind Guidance. See
    here for more information.

  • I'm trying to find communicator-guides, personal assistants or Deafblind interpreters in my area, so is there a directory for them?
    Try Sense's
Deafblind Directory which is an online database of communicator-guides, personal assistants, deafblind interpreters, etc that you can search and book directly.
