Drunken Usher Artists 27th September 1998, “Drunk? No! I Have Usher!” Theatre performance, Conway Hall, Holborn, London, Usher UK & Shape London Still hungover from the nightly 24 hour drinking binges at Seattle, It was Usher people’s first ever theatre performance in which five Usher artistees, Jeremy Morgan, Debbie Arnaud (pregnant again!), Limda Newnham, Angela Stafford and Nick Sturley performed the story of Vicky (Linda) as an Usher person going theough her life from schooldays to a later age while the other four actors performed different characters. The performance was attended by 200 people in which some of them particpated in the second half of the performance being in Vicky’s shoes in order to try to change the other characers’ attitudes in which improvisation skills (and fast thinking!) were required. This performance was sponsored by Shape, Lloyds TSB, London Arts Council and the National Lottery. The highlight? Nobody saw it but Angela and Nick banged their heads together real hard by accident during a scene and they carried on despite being in agonsing pain! Angela ended up with a nice bump on her forehead... |
